The glxinfo command gives me the following error.[Code].... Removing and then reinstalling the nvidia driver in Hardware drivers does not help. the 96xx driver is for horrible old hardware, like the gf4.   • I can't try it as it complained my X server is working.
  • Both drivers in the hardware drivers (185 and 173) have this problem.
  • You can read over the Debian wiki here if you wish, but generally the Debian way is to (can issue apt-cache search nvidia-glx to see all options): Code: apt-get install nvidia-glx
  • Run'do-realease-upgrade' to upgrade it.
  • For the record, I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 So I built my new box, and my video card is a Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce 9600GT (GIGABYTE GV-N96TZL-1GI).
