Finally I tried going into the BIOS menu and setting the CD Rom drive to first boot priority and I tried doing a system recovery using the 8 HP recovery CDs Did you make recovery disks at the very first time or no? If so, will this install still allow me to use my recovery partition in the future?

Found my Windows XP Pro disk which I thought was for that computer (it was not) It reformated my hard drive and now I have a computer that runs but no I would take the disk out and see if you get to the normal desktop.
