If they are encrypted you are out of luck. Windows Xp No Security Tab You will not receive support or software update there, so you'd better go to the original version provider. I am running WinXP, do not have the 'Security" tab, and am wondering why only the one folder is not accessible. I was afraid I was going to lose all of my files, but now they're all fine! It worked perfectly. I then copied the gobbledegook folder back to where it came from. I don't know why these crazy things happen, but this fixed it.
